A key priority for the Council is that all new development in the Borough is of the highest – or ‘exemplar’ – design quality.
We want development across the Borough to respond appropriately to local character, to be generous and joyful and to consider people and the planet. The Exemplar Design Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) will help to ensure that forthcoming proposals promote 15-minute neighbourhoods, enhance community safety and respond to the Climate Emergency. This means considering quality and deliverability from the start of a proposal through to completion and beyond.
Exemplar Design is about more than what a development looks like: it considers human, social, environmental and financial value, that’s why these principles have been used to develop this and all of the planning guidance documents.
How can you get involved?
This consultation closed on 6 August 2023 however you will have a further opportunity to provide feedback when the draft SPD is published for statutory consultation.
