Green & Blue Spaces SPD

High quality, connected green and blue spaces, including parks, greenways, private gardens and rivers are essential for happiness and the health and well-being of humans and the planet.

This Green and Blue Spaces Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) will look at ways to protect and enhance the amazing spaces that already exist in the Borough, as well as how to create and connect attractive new spaces. It will also consider the delivery and long-term management and maintenance of these spaces to ensure their success.

Our vision is for green and blue spaces in Waltham Forest that are connected, accessible and safe and which respond to the challenges of the Climate Emergency including flood risk and species decline. This will ensure that the Borough is a thriving place for people to live and has a positive impact on the environment and the natural systems on which we all depend.

This vision is supported by the four principles of exemplar design, which have been used to develop all of the planning guidance documents.
