Thank you for your feedback, the consultation for this policy has now closed.
Overview This consultation is for residents who live in Waltham Forest, particularly those living in social housing or council-managed properties, we are seeking your feedback on our proposed Vulnerability Policy.
What is vulnerability? A vulnerable person is someone who, due to their personal circumstances, may find it harder to access services or face additional challenges in their daily lives. This can include people with disabilities, those with long-term health conditions, elderly residents, people experiencing mental health challenges, or those facing temporary difficulties such as recovering from surgery or financial hardship.
Example: An older resident with limited mobility might need modifications to their home, such as handrails, or might require additional assistance in communicating with council services. In council-managed properties, our policy aims to ensure that residents in these situations are fully supported and receive the services they need without barriers.
The policy aims to ensure that vulnerable individuals living in the borough receive the housing services and support they need. Vulnerability can affect anyone at different stages of life due to various factors, including health, personal circumstances, or other challenges.
The Vulnerability Policy outlines:
How vulnerable residents are identified, and how their information is recorded and monitored.
How the Housing Service provides tailored support to vulnerable individuals and households in council-managed properties.
What reasonable adjustments we make to ensure vulnerable residents can access the housing services they need.
Consultation Resident consultation will take place between Thursday 10 October 2024 and Monday 11 November 2024.
