Housing Services: Resident involvement expenses and incentives policy

Overview
This consultation is for Waltham Forest Council tenants, leaseholders and shared owners living in council-managed properties. We are seeking your feedback on the proposed Resident Involvement Expenses and Incentives Policy, which aims to reduce financial barriers to resident involvement and encourage a wider range of residents to take part in the council’s resident involvement activities for its housing services.

What are resident involvement activities?
They are activities that provide a voice for residents and the tools to ensure that you can share your views and influence decisions which affect your homes and neighbourhoods. Examples include attending focus groups, becoming a resident scrutineer or attending meetings as a member of the Resident Influence and Accountability Panel.

The council values and recognises the importance of involving residents in decisions that affect your homes, estates, and neighbourhoods, as well as in scrutinising the quality and cost-efficiency of the housing services you receive. We reimburse out-of-pocket expenses and offer incentives to reduce financial barriers to involvement and encourage a wider range of residents to take part.

The Resident Involvement Expenses and Incentives Policy outlines:

  • the expenses that we can cover, how to make a claim and how expenses can be reimbursed

  • how we will incentivise residents to get involved in designing, planning, monitoring, and scrutinising the council's housing services.

We would appreciate it if you could take a few moments to read the draft policy and complete our consultation survey. Your input and insights are crucial in shaping our policy and helping us ensure that we address any financial barriers that may prevent residents from collaborating with us to improve our housing services.

Before completing the survey, please read the draft Resident Involvement Expenses and Incentives Policy.
