Who is working on this project?
Waltham Forest Council is working with West Essex Cricket and Football Club to design a replacement building which will sit on the same site and be approximately the same size.
What is planned?
A new Cricket Pavilion building which will follow the design of the old building and will improve on it with more internal open space for community use, level access, improved kitchen and catering facilities and accessible toilets with baby changing facilities.
Where is the Rolls Park Cricket Pavilion?
Rolls Park Cricket Pavilion is sited just to the north of Lena Kennedy Close on the east side of the Cricket ground in Rolls Park, E4.
Why is a new Cricket Pavilion needed in Rolls Park?
The Pavilion has been the home of West Essex Cricket and Football Club for many years though due to structural problems caused by surrounding trees, the building has not been in use for some time.
Waltham Forest Council has looked at how the building might be repaired and brought back into use, but the building has limited facilities and cannot easily meet modern standards. The council has been seeking to deliver a new cricket pavilion at Rolls Sports Ground since 2023, when an insurance settlement was received to rebuild the subsiding building. The aim is to bring it back into use for the local community.
How will be the building be constructed and will it affect me?
Once we have planning permissions and appointed contractors to deliver the building, we will know further details about the construction. We anticipate that disruption will be minimal, but we will inform residents and park users ahead of any works starting on site and how it might affect them once we have confirmed start on site date.

Who will manage the building once completed?

All the existing mature and semi-mature trees on the site have been surveyed, and we will ensure these are protected.
