As part of feedback on the Lea Bridge Area Framework you told us you’d like to see more planting and greenery introduced locally, and inclusive spaces for the whole community to spend time in.
We listened and used your ideas to come up with suggestions for how Lea Bridge Library’s garden can be improved and new features introduced to it.
Last Autumn we asked for your feedback on these suggestions. Thank you to everyone who took part in our survey as part of this public engagement which ran from 1 November to 20 November 2022.
There was enthusiasm for the ideas and designs proposed, and helpful comments and suggestions around making sure that the space is safe and well maintained. There were also lots of great ideas for additional activities you would like to see in the garden once the improvements are made!
Next steps
We are pleased to let you know that we are ready to begin working on the improvements, and we hope that the garden will be ready for you to enjoy this Summer!
Works are planned to start on Monday 20 February, and whilst the improvements are taking place there will be no access to or through the garden however the library building will remain open as usual.
Works will take place within the boundary of the library garden only.
For more information on arrangements whilst the improvements are being made, view the letter delivered to the library's neighbours on Gloucester Road and Gloucester Mews on this page.
If you have specific questions about construction arrangements please contact us by emailing Servicestore@walthamforest.gov.uk (external link) or calling 020 8496 5525.
