The project is funded from a £300,000 SANGS funding allocation for Sidmouth Park and Coronation Gardens. SANGS, short for Suitable Alternative Natural Greenspaces,is dedicated funding from development in the local area and must be spent in line with specific criteria to improve existing parks and greenspaces and deliver high-quality natural spaces close to people’s homesIt is part of our strategy to protect Epping Forest and its sensitive habitats. The current funding is specifically for improving access, biodiversity and nature. As a result the funding can’t be spent on playground upgrades. Where possible, we would like to include projects which encourage exploration, movement and interaction for children and young people of different ages and abilities.

The current funding is specifically for improving access, biodiversity and nature and cannot be spent on an outdoor gym. There are no plans for an outdoor gym at Sidmouth Park nor Coronation Gardens. The nearest outdoor gyms are located at Leyton Jubilee Park and Cathall Green.

Due to the limited width of the carriageway and the pavements, street planting in Sidmouth Road is not possible.

All parks in Waltham Forest are closed between sunset and dawn, including Sidmouth Park and Coronation Gardens. Lighting the parks when they are closed at night is not planned.

There are no plans for a permanent kiosk in Coronation Gardens. However, the new Coronation Square development will have an extensive offer of shops selling food and drinks. Occasionally, during planned events and activities, food and drinks may also be sold in the park. Find out more about organising events in our park.
