The deadline for submitting nominations for the Waltham Forest Design Awards 2024 has now closed.
Thank you to everyone who has submitted a project! We'll be in touch in due course with information about the status of your submission and the projects that have been shortlisted.
At Waltham Forest, we are pioneering an Exemplar Design approach. This will ensure new buildings and places in the Borough look great and also consider fully the needs of all the people who will use them – like making sure they are safe and inclusive to all, support the delivery of 15 minute neighbourhoods and help us address the Climate Emergency.
Exemplar Design is more than what a development looks like, it also considers the interrelated principles of:
Human value – community safety, comfort, health, privacy, access for all
Social value – local character, connectivity, inclusivity for all, equitable distribution of the benefits of planned growth,
Environmental value – net zero carbon, trees and biodiversity, improving air quality, reducing the risk of surface water flooding and
Financial value – affordability, high quality workspace and good jobs, whole life cost, resource efficiency, value creation.
At this submission stage entries should refer to the Exemplar Design principles above but do not need to be submitted against any specific category.

Housing
